Last year MG re-launched its TF roadster with the unveiling of the limited edition TF LE 500, but now it appears that MG’s TF is to make a full production come-back with a new entry-level model.
Power for the new model will come from a revised 1.8-litre version of the familiar K-series engine, which should deliver in the region of 135bhp. Prices will be significantly less than the current LE 500 model at around £13,500.
MG will also introduce a special anniversary version of the TF to celebrate its 85th birthday. The MG TF 85th Anniversary Edition will cost around £15,750 and will get an improved suspension set-up as well as a new alloy wheel design and bespoke trim.
Next summer will also see the launch of saloon and hatchback versions of the new MG6 that was unveiled at last months Shanghai motor show. According to reports MG’s parent company Nanjing is still accessing the viability of building the new cars at the firm’s Longbridge plant, instead of importing the vehicles from its factory in China.
Both new models will be subjected to a rigorous marketing campaign to help invigorate the MG brand, and attempt to get the public interested in its cars once again.
