Dodge has revlealed a new racing Viper for 2010. Called the SRT10 ACR-X (you can tell a car is nearing the end of its life by the increasing string of acronyms), the racing-only Viper is designed to compete in several American GT race series including the new Dodge Viper Spec series that begins next summer.
Nearly 73kg has been trimmed from the 'standard' Viper ACR to ready it for the track, helping to make the most of a 40hp power increase. New racing headers and a high-flow exhaust have brought peak power up to 631bhp, and the car now weighs around 1477kg.
Other racing bits for the ACR-X include adjustable suspension, a roll cage, fuel cell, racing seats and the requisite spoilers to prevent unwanted take-offs. Sadly the car is destined for the US only, with deliveries beginning in Spring 2010, just in time for the Viper racing series. The 'turn-key' racer has been priced pretty competitively at $110,000 USD (£67,784).
The ACR-X is the latest in a string of limited editions being announced for the Viper in its final year, also including the '1.33' special edition named after the production car record recently set by a road-legal Viper ACR at Laguna Seca.
Finally, if all of this has given you a taste fro more, remember that a PHer's very special GTS will be at the PH Show in January.
