Nissan has announced prices, launch and delivery dates for the 350Z Roadster. On 15 October at 1550, Nissan dealers will open the order books for the 350Z Roadster, of which there will be two versions available –- the standard model is priced at £26,000 and the ‘GT Pack’ at £28,500. These compare to £24,500 and £27,000 (GT Pack) for the coupe. Deliveries start from March 2005 but Nissan says numbers will be limited.
In addition to the standard coupe's features, the 350Z Roadster's showstopper is its automatic roof. Taking under 20 seconds to raise or lower. it’s very simple to operate, says Nissan. With the ignition on, the car in neutral and your foot on the brake, you simply release a latch on the roof and hold down the button on the dash. When lowered, the roof folds away under a lightweight tonneau cover in front of the boot lid. It’s the same simple operation to raise the roof. Closing the latch operates a triple locking system which secures the roof to the windscreen header rail in three places.
Standard equipment on the 350Z Roadster is identical to its coupe twin but with an additional option unique to the new model: Alezan leather and ventilated net seats available on the ‘GT Pack’.
On placing an order, Nissan says that a deposit of £2000 will be required which buys a number on the waiting list. The customer will get both order confirmation and regular updates about the progress of their car.
Nissan said that, when it opened its order books for the 350Z coupe last year, all 450 cars were sold out in 58 minutes.
Oh yes, it's also launching a dull shopping car, the Murano.
