Fans of crazy retro motoring pay attention! Despite claiming it was only ever a concept, Holden is considering putting its Efijy hot-rod into limited production - for the princely sum of £500,000 a piece.
First shown in 2005, the Efijy’s 1950s-inspired looks have reportedly generated a surprising amount of interest. Along with receiving an understandable amount of attention in the States, British businessmen, the now obligatory Middle Eastern car-mad Sheiks and even Russian President Vladimir Putin’s brother are all rumoured to have expressed a desire to get their hands on the Aussie-built cruiser.
Despite its old school styling, the car is based on a stretched version of the latest Corvette’s chassis and power is provided by a supercharged version of the LS2 V8, developing around 645bhp.
Although still very much a tentative plan, Holden may call on the skills of Tom Walkinshaw, who helps run Holden’s racing activities, to make sure the car has the potential to go as well as it looks.
