Expect these to become a more common sight
While Europe squabbles about how to lower emissions Honda has announced that in two years time 10% of its cars will be hybrids.
The company launched the Insight hybrid nine years ago and has decided to stick by the technology, confirming one in ten of its global car sales will use the technology by 2010.
To achieve this within the next two years, Honda has committed to building two new hybrid models in addition to the existing Civic Hybrid.
The Global Hybrid to go on sale in 2009, with a focus on making hybrid technology more 'affordable' and a worldwide sales plan of 200,000 units.
A sports hybrid based on the CR-Z concept revealed at Tokyo Motor Show and due to be displayed at the Detroit Show in January.
Honda also promises to make hybrid technology more affordable by developing cheaper technology.
