Utilitarian icon to celebrates 60 years this summer

Everybody's favourite off-road-truck-that-sounds-like-a-type-of-cat (that'd be the Mercedes Unimog, then) is turning 60 this year.

To mark such a milestone, Mercedes is planning to host a celebratory anniversary party on 4th June. It will take place at the Wörth plant in Germany where the Unimog is built and fans, club members, owners of classic vehicles, and drivers and owners of current models are all invited.

A rally from the original factory in Gaggenau to the current factory, via the Unimog Museum (yes, there is one of those) will also take place.

The party continues on 5th June at the museum, with vehicle demos, presentations and even book sigings by 'famous' authors of tomes on the Unimog (the mind truly boggles).

Mind you, while we might take the mickey, the Unimog is a pretty cool piece of kit, as these pictures prove...
