There is a well known phrase involving our porcine friends and their ability to take to the skies that’s usually appropriate to use when the truth has been stretched somewhat.
Funnily enough it sprang to mind when we first heard of the misfortune that befell Charles and Linda Everson as they were driving their MPV along a highway in Washington State last Sunday.
However, after a bit of investigation it would seem that a 252kg cow did indeed plunge to its death from a 200-foot cliff onto the bonnet of their car, according to State police.
The car’s occupants escaped unhurt, and were left to consider what might have happened should Daisy have decided to fall a split second later.
Apparently the cow had been missing for two days and, after wandering five miles away from home, inexplicably fell off the cliff overhanging the road.
The cow did actually survive, but had to be sent to the great pastures in the sky by vets as a result of the injuries it sustained.
