Porsche boss Matthias Muller does not give the sense of a man easily moved to tears. So the sight of him weeping and hugging his team and then speaking to the camera with his eyes still brimming is an unusually intimate display of emotion for an official celebratory video.

The marketing value of this historic one-two victory for the 919 Hybrid will no doubt be plundered in time with increasingly indulgent video content. Making the very rawness of this - released within three hours of the flag going down - all the more endearing for its honesty. The big corporate tub-thumping will no doubt come and Muller will be back to his usual steely self. This one would appear to be from the heart. Fair play.
