Next week, PH staff writer Riggers will be interviewing Nissan legend Kazutoshi Mizuno, and we would like to ask him the questions that you want the answers to.
Mizuno is rightly regarded as a Nissan hero. As a former Nissan racing engineer and team director in the '90s, Mizuno participated in many different events around the world, including the Group C Japan Sports Prototype Car Endurance Championship, 24-hour races at Daytona and Le Mans, the Japan GT Championship and F3000.
Commenting on how he became involved with production Nissans he commented: “During my racing period, there was one thing I always wondered about, namely why don't we apply the performance and safety of racing cars to regular cars? Even during the euphoria after a championship win, the question rattled around inside me. Racing cars remain stable under any condition by applying downforce and distributing the load equally to all four wheels. They offer both comfort and a feeling of stability described by drivers as ‘the tyres are sucked to the ground’. Beyond that they are very safe, keeping the driver from harm even in high-speed accidents. Why aren't these technologies applied to mass-production cars to the benefit of customers?”
Upon hanging up his motorsport hat and moving into product development, Mizuno began to formulate a study for applying racing technologies to mass-production cars, and his most recent success is the new GT-R.
PistonHeads invites you to post up the questions that you would like us to ask Mizuno on your behalf on the forum thread attached to this story. We will ask as many as we can when we meet the man next week, and the answers to these questions will be published in a homepage feature shortly after our meeting.
This is a rare opportunity to ask a question to a man who has not only created one of the best all-round performance cars, but has a wealth of motorsport and technological expertise too, so make sure you ask some challenging questions and we look forward to reading them.
