Imported in 2007 and left unloved over the years in a truck MOT station, this 1968 Pro Touring Camaro was calling out to be saved. After much toing and froing the owner sold the car to 'boyzee', the thread's OP. After picking the car up, buyer's remorse set in - the fuel tank leaked and oil pump needed replacing, which the previous owner promised he would fix. A few weeks with the previous owner's mechanic had damaged the starter and split one side of the 427 cubic inch engine block. The car unfortunately sat for a few more weeks and boyzee was slowly giving up on his dream of ever driving his American classic, putting it up for sale.
Then with help from a friend they pulled the engine out, took it to another engine guru and has it rebuilt, fixing all the previous problems and within two weeks the car was back on the road. This meant aesthetics could be taken care of with the OP going for a murdered-out look - black on black, with more black - and it looks menacing! Power is said to be at around the 570hp mark thanks to uprated cams and a few other tweaks. There is a nitrous system fitted as well but that 'probably won't be used.' What started as quite the unpleasant experience in Americana ownership has bloomed into something that wouldn't look out of place on a villain's driveway - top work!
Congratulations boyzee, your Chevrolet Camaro Pro Touring is our Reader's Car of the Week. Read the full build here.
