Peugeot and Citroen merged in 1976 to form the PSA Group. The first product of the joint venture was the Citroen BX, designed by Bertone. The Citroen's interior is a characteristic mixture of eccentricity and sound functional design, the 'PRN' design combining an analogue speedo with a digital strip rev counter. Mechanically it's equally distinctive, fitted with Citroen's clever hydropneumatic suspension.
This quirky Citroen BX is the more 'sporting' 19GT version, and is our Reader's Car Of The Week. Bought by original poster Kitchski for £132 10 years ago, the 10 months of outstanding VED was worth more than he paid for the car at the time. Powered by a carburettor-fed version of the engine that would later find a home in the Peugeot 205 GTI 1.9, it made a less than mighty 104hp in its day, though it seems a few of those horses have since fled the stable. This wouldn't appear to trouble our OP, or his father who has now taken ownership of the car, and together they're engaged in a methodical restoration of the car to its former glory.
Sure, there are faster, more exotic and more glamorous cars out there. But the Citroen has charm aplenty and the story behind it is as good as they come. Check out the full restoration thread here.
