Jet Funny car at Easter Thunderball 2006
It’s the loudest, most awe-inspiring display of flame-spitting jet cars, nitro burning 300mph dragsters and fireworks. The annual Flame and Thunder firework extravaganza at Santa Pod Raceway will set Northants ablaze with action on Saturday 4 November.
There will be fireworks on the track and in the sky with a flame-breathing cocktail of jet cars, quads and even jet trucks at the home of Britain’s fastest motor sport. The thumping sound of a 300mph Top Fuel dragster sending 10-foot flames from the headers is bigger than an aerial bombshell.
Monster Trucks, freestyle motocross and drift driving demos will keep the heat in the show. Lending weight to the show will be strongman Geoff Capes, and a special appearance for self-confessed speed-freak and former Eastender, Michael Greco.
As the cars fire up the race track into dusk, the action will take to the skies with a massive, knee-trembling aerial firework display. And at Santa Pod, where they don’t do things by halves, there is a huge bonfire to burn into the evening. With a ‘70’s disco, stunt plane and Hot Air Balloon demo the action is hot and fast at Santa Pod.
With so much to pack into one day, things are kicking off at 10am and the last demo is scheduled for 7.30pm.
Highlights
- Top Fuel Shootout between ultra-fast FIA racers John Webster and Chris Andrews plus drag cars and bikes will be demonstrating throughout the day. This will be the last chance to smell, hear and feel the experience of the dragsters in 2006.
- You have always been spoilt when it comes to Jets Cars at Santa Pod, and the Flame and Thunder is no exception. Not only do we have Jet Funny Cars, a Jet Trike, a Jet Truck but also the Jet Beetle.
- The stunts and shows will come flying from all angles, including the incredible Terry Grant and his stunt cars, Paul Gower, from the army’s Flying Gunners Stunt Team, Denny Dobson’s acrobatic, tree-shaving one-man airshow and the Royal Navy Skydive Team. With a fun fair and a massive kids entertainment area (try to spot the motorised bed and monster sized shopping trolley as you move around site too) this is more than a firework show.
