Silverstone is always a rather special Sunday Service; maybe it's the sound of the cars on track, maybe it's the excited atmosphere of such a big meet, or maybe it's the huge array of vehicles in attendance. Maybe it's all of those things, but it seems no matter what, everyone has a fantastic time.
The day began with a welcome extra hour in bed (I think you'll agree...) and a swift early morning drive to the circuit where we were greeted by some lovely weather! Even a light shower mid morning caused no bother. As always, Silverstone attracted an amazing mixture of cars; we had some beautiful classics such as an E-Type Jaguar, Datsun 240Z, Lancia Delta Integrale and Trojan Bubble Car; some stunning supercars in the form of an insanely wide tyred Dodge Viper, Lamborghini Aventador S, Noble M600 and Ferrari 458; and everything in between including a peppy little Fiat Panda 100hp, a fully stripped race spec Peugeot 205 GTi and a lovely pair of Clio V6s.
The track time displayed some really great driving, with lots of fun had by everyone who took part. The marshalls reported that there wasn't one red flag, which really is a testament to the driving standards of the day. Matt and Ben were out on track most of the morning, too, giving some lucky (read brave) members the chance to hop in the passenger seat with them; Ben in his Megane RS 250 and Matt in a Caterham 420R which was proved very popular.
All in all, it was a very successful and enjoyable day. I'd like to send a huge thanks to Silverstone and everyone in involved in making the day happen, and also the marshalls for keeping everyone nice and safe.
You may have seen our good friend Chris Teagles track side taking some ace shots of the morning's action. Check out his photos, available for purchase here.
We look forward to seeing you at our next Sunday Service at Denbies Wine Estate!
