It may not have been a white Christmas but drivers are being warned to prepare for snow in many parts of the country this week.
The Highways Agency has asked motorists to check weather forecasts as bitterly cold conditions will affect many parts of England from today.
The Met Office says that snow is expected to fall mainly over the South Midlands and Central Southern England from Wednesday through to Friday, and could spread to many parts of the country.
Thursday in particular will feel especially cold, with a significant wind-chill factor.
Some people don’t realise it can take ten times longer to stop when it is icy, and more accidents as a result are expected.
Information about current road conditions is available on the Highways Agency's website www.highways.gov.uk/trafficinfo/
