We're pleased to note that neither global recession nor environmental hand-wringing appear to be upsetting the supercar applecart at the Frankfurt show next week. We're already fired up for the world debuts of the Ferrari 458 Italia and the Mercedes SLS AMG, not to mention the new Porsche 911 Turbo/SC/GT3s or the Audi R8 Spyder Now we hear that Lamborghini is joining the party with a soft-top version of the Reventon mega-car.
These leaked images show that the Reventon roadster is much more in the traditionally outrageous supercar mould than its showmates from McLaren and Mercedes, however. Like the coupe version of the Reventon, which was revealed at the same motor show in 2007, the angular carbon fibre body panels of Lamborghini's latest soft-top are inspired by fighter aircraft, while the interior is treated to lashings of carbon fibre and Alcantara.
Power comes from the same glorious 641bhp 487lb ft V12 that propels the 'normal' Murcielago on which the Reventon is based, so expect the Reventon to get to 60mph in 3.4sec on the way to a 211mph top speed.
The Reventon might be dramatic-looking, but it won't be cheap. If you want to get your hands on one of the 20 or so slated to be built, you will most likely have to chuck more than £1 million in Lamborghini's direction.
