At what point was this ever a good idea?
Across the car parks of a well-known Scandinavian furniture store, many-a-shopper is greeted by a familiar dilemma:“how on earth am I going to get this lot home?” The rational amongst us, PHers hopefully included, will set about assembling a tangled jigsaw of products inside every available space in our car before finally folding themselves into the driver’s seat.
However, Avon and Somerset Police were greeted by a very different scene when this driver and passenger took the easy post-IKEA option.
Upon discovering that their Xsara estate didn’t possess the Tardis-like qualities they’d expected, the driver clearly thought nothing of driving down the M5 towards Gloucester yesterday, holding on to the mattress to keep it on the roof.
A police spokesperson said "If an item was not properly secured we would stop the vehicle and take appropriate action". Hopefully, that means a serious talking to, hopefully some form of fine and a permanent ban from ever having the meatballs again.
