Sports Car of the Year 2005
The TVR Sagaris has won Sports Car of the Year 2005, beating the Mercedes SLK280, the Audi S4 and the Porsche Boxster. The winner of the overall Car of the Year award was the VW Golf GTI, while the Mitsubishi Evo 9 FQ340 won the 4x4 category.
Over 24,000 members of the British public voted on the Bank Holiday weekend for the live final of the Car of the Year 2005, hosted by Top Gear’s James May and Formula 1’s Louise Goodman. The TV event shortlisted the latest car models and tested them out for the general public to decide which are the best motors of 2005.
Car of the Year was divided into four categories: Family, 4x4, Luxury and Sport. Within each category there were four cars shortlisted by UKTV People’s specialist team. May and Goodman tested all cars in each category, showing off the cars' best and worse attributes, to help viewers vote.
Other category winners included the Mercedes CLS55 (Luxury), VW Golf GTI (Family).
The show was on UKTV People on Sky Digital and cable. No wonder you missed it, then -- unless you were one of the PHers who helped the TVR win…
