Haynes, the DIY manual company, is offering one of its stripped and rebuilt cars as a competition prize for the first time.
A new Mini Cooper is being used in the preparation of the new associated manual due out in August. The winner gets the car, the Russ Swift stunt experience, and a unique signed copy of the manual, signed by the entire production team and Haynes’ Chairman, John Haynes.
The competition is open to all purchasers of Haynes car and motorcycle manuals; it consists of a pair of spot-the-difference photographs and a multiple-choice question. It is runs until 30 June 2005 and will culminate in a presentation at Haynes’ Somerset HQ where he or she will undertake the Russ Swift experience.
Fifty runner-up prizes of a choice of two fabulous motor sport books – either The Official Formula 1 Season Review 2004 or the MotoGP Season Review 2004 – are added incentives to enter.
To enter the competition, you need to buy a copy of any Haynes car or motorcycle service manual between 01/03/05 and 25/06/05. Entries must be accompanied by the relevant competition entry form and a valid till receipt.
Project Mini Cooper is currently being dismantled and rebuilt in Haynes project workshops, with every stage photographed and documented for inclusion in the new manual. Haynes has thrown open its workshop doors, so that you can view the progress on its Web site (see link below) from the moment the car arrived, to the finished manuals appearing on retailers’ shelves.
