The Geneva motor show may seem a little while ago now, though there is still news emerging from it. In March Alpina confirmed a new
B7 Bi-Turbo
, a 600hp range flagship that had us all giddy with excitement. Big, fast, cool Alpinas tend to do that.
Like the old wheels, but ever so slightly different...
Now back then availability for the UK wasn't known, but now we have good news: you can buy an Alpina B7 in the UK. Right now. Better than that it has gained some power in the following months (now 608hp) while also losing the 'xDrive' part of its nomenclature; yep, this is a 600hp, rear-wheel drive 7 Series. Apparently it's to "keep both sprung and unsprung mass down, further enhancing driving dynamics and ride comfort on the UK's uniquely demanding roads." Jolly good!
All UK B7s will be long wheelbase too, because more distance between the axles will help with the enormous powerslides you'll no doubt be pulling. That may or may not be true. Also standard on the UK cars will be new 20-inch Alpina wheels (without centre hub covers!), a sports exhaust and air suspension.
Inside you'll get "an almost limitless" range of options and leathers, but as standard there's Nappa leather everywhere, Alpina illuminated sills and Alpina Blue mood lighting. Finally, you can have the stickers outside if you really want...
The price? £115,000, with a three-year, 120,000-mile BMW-endorsed warranty. Though more than an Audi S8 Plus, it's less than a LWB Mercedes-AMG S63 and BMW's own M760Li xDrive. None of those will do 200mph, either... Get your order in now!
