With all the fuss around the Valkyrie, Aston Martin's upcoming Valhalla has flown a little under the radar. But while the 1,176hp range-topper tends to draw the spotlight, as it did most notably during its recent dynamic debut before the British Grand Prix, the Valhalla is just as significant a car to its maker.
Because while only 150 road-going Valkyries will ever be produced, up to 500 Valhalla's are set to roll off the Gaydon production line over the coming years. They will bridge the gap between the Valkyrie and new Vanquish, the marque's first series-production mid-engined car, which will arrive in 2022 with the same twin-turbo V6 as used in the Valhalla.
Said to be "closely related" to its bigger brother, the Valhalla remains true to the same uncompromising engineering ethos, yet is designed to allow for more frequent road use and greater practicality. Using state-of-the-art F1 tech and "unrivalled" active aero, including variable morphing surfaces, the car is claimed to deliver equally impressive levels of handling performance. So while the output of its bespoke electrified V6 powertrain is yet to be revealed - beyond the suggestion that it will "surpass figures shown in today's hypercar world" - it's sure to contribute to some very quick lap times indeed.
The model is currently making its North American debut at the world-famous Monterey Car Week's 'Quail' display and, to celebrate the fact, Aston Martin has released a video showing it in motion for the first time. Alongside the Valkyrie, it's being put through its paces by Chirs Goodwin at the luxury marque's official development facility at Silverstone. Excited yet?
