The full team is now assembled for the two Speedworx B6s in this year's
championship. The final piece in the jigsaw is James Pickford. He joins Nigel
Greensall, Terry Pudwell and Mark Pashley.
Pickford, a former single-seater racer tested the B6 at Silverstone on
Tuesday for the first time and will now join the team in the build up to the
opening race of the season at Brands Hatch on April 1st.
Team principal Terry Pudwell was very pleased to have secured the services of
one of Britain's best young drivers. "James is a good young lad, he's
quick and he's a team player," said Pudwell.
"It has taken a long time to get my 2002 plans confirmed,"
said Pickford. "But it's good to be back and I'm looking forward to a
good season. I'm especially pleased to be working with Nigel Greensall again.
He's already taught me an awful lot."
Pickford, now 22 years old, has already tasted GT success having won the only
race in the abortive ISC series last season in a Lister. "I'm now focusing
my career in sports and GT cars, so this is a brilliant opportunity,"
he says.
Over the winter, Pickford has done some testing in a Formula Ford, but is
delighted to be confirmed in a front-running GT drive. "It's been a
while since I've driven a GT car, and it felt like a rocket ship compared to a
Formula Ford," he said after his first test.
