One
of the race series being promoted at the Autosport show was the "Roaring
40's". It's a chance to race GT40 replicas around Europe in 2004.
Twenty four cars are being prepared with five litre, 350bhp V8's. Each one
will be a replica of the Mark I GT40 as raced in the 1960s'.
All the cars will be taken to each circuit by the organisers where every
driver will have two test sessions, one qualifying session and a race. The cars
will be painted in individual colour schemes based on those used in the 60's.
Every driver will have his own car, which they'll be given at the end of the
season.
Each race weekend will be fully organised with top class hotels provided and
quality catering at the circuits too. The provisional calendar will take the
series to
- Brands Hatch GP Circuit
- Estoril, Portugal
- Jarama, Spain
- Le Mans, France
- Monza, Italy
- Nurburgring, Germany
- Spa Francorchamps, Belgium
- Zandvoort, Netherlands
Development starts in Spring this year with test cars available in the
summer. The package price is €200,000 (including the car).
