doing the rounds satirising the fact as our TVs get skinnier and more high tech we seem to be getting fatter. Perhaps this explains the trend for stupid flat-bottomed steering wheels seen in many modern cars.
Once they were simple, thin-rimmed and round. Now? Practically square, thicker than a python digesting its lunch and with plenty of gadgets and buttons cluttering up their surface. In racing cars, where space is limited and less than one turn gets you lock to lock, it works. But translated into a modern hatchback and the idea doesn't quite work as intended. Unless, like the meme, the global population is getting plumper and we need clearance for our guts. Or is it a fad whereby the sales exec in his C-Class has to have the same wheel as Lewis Hamilton?
Aston Martin, Audi, VW and more besides are all up to it. So to help bolster the campaign to bring back the simple Nardi-style wheels of old share your examples of the worst offenders here!
