For so many of us, a fast Ford features somewhere in our car history. By combining sporty style, plentiful performance and, typically, pretty good value, they've always proved popular in the UK, from the Capris of half a century ago right up to the current Fiesta ST.
That was exactly the case for PHer 'Spencerw9t9', who snapped up this 1983 Escort XR3 (so one of the last carb'd cars, before the XR3i) earlier this year to relive 2001, when a similar XR3 was his very first car. Moreover, in a bizarre twist of fate, it's a car that already had a thread on PH...
In 2012, PHer 'curly72' snapped it up for just £100. Spencer, of course, ended up paying slightly more, but has a similar ambition to his fellow PHer: to get the XR3 back in fine fettle. That began with some body repairs and a respray, and is now being continued with suspension and brakes; the interior is said to be in need of some attention, too, so if you've seen any XR3 parts about then you know what to do!
With the previous owner back involved and a wealth of fast Ford knowledge inputted, this is a real feel-good thread from Readers Cars. Spencer, we can't wait to see the finished project!
