You'd like to think James Bond is a bit too classy to spend his spare time doing donuts on runways in his Aston Martin. But then again... Here we have a little teaser video of his new wheels, bespoke for Bond
DB10
It's a measure of how significant
the 007 connection is
for Aston Martin that this car is a standalone model in the range and yet will never be built as a full production model like
the DB11
that follows it and will introduce the new, AMG-engined era. The DB10 does have an important job though, besides providing suitable transport for Daniel Craig in Spectre. That is to introduce us to the new styling language that (not before time, some might say) moves Aston Martin along from the DB9/Vantage era and into something more modern.
The DB10 itself, 10 of which will be built for the film, looks Vantage-like in size and proportion and quite evidently has three pedals and a manual shifter. Does this signal hope that future Aston Martins will come so-equipped or just that stunt drivers need the flexibility of a manual and the cars are based on 'old' Vantages? Probably the latter but it's good to get a glimpse of the car and digest the bold new look.
