Anybody who saw the action from this year's Betty Richmond Trophy at the Goodwood Members' Meeting can't fail to have enjoyed the racing. 60 Minis split across two quali races for one 30-car final shootout made for spectacular viewing, with top-level drivers giving their all in beautifully prepared old Minis a real treat.
There was one car that stuck out, though, even in a field of marvellous Minis - the red Burlen Mini Countryman, unique in the Trophy, still complete with its wooden panelling. It was a competitive car, yet witnessing the ostensibly practical Mini being razzed around the Motor Circuit was certainly a sight to behold.
The team wasn't done there, either, deciding to up the ante quite significantly with an entry into the Spa 6-Hour. This is the video of their adventure - that's putting it lightly - from preparing the Countryman for endurance, to being placed dead last after qualifying because of paperwork issues, to running in the top 20, to finishing... well, you'll have to watch the video to find out. We wouldn't spoil that here.
It's a great little vid, the passion and commitment of the team clear to see, as are the perils and challenges of racing something like a Mini around Spa flat out for the length of four football matches. It's the ideal morale booster for a Wednesday morning, so what are you waiting for? Get that kettle on!
