Simon
Peach will be taking his Grantura to this race in the Forwater Trophy at this
year's Goodwood Motor Circuit Revival meeting. The race takes place around
lunchtime on Sunday 8th September; the main day of racing at the event.
In Goodwood's heyday, this was a sprint race for production sports cars, and
also for production GT cars. At the Revival Meeting, the race continues to cater
for such cars with entries from 1958 to 1963. This incorporates roadgoing sports
cars such as the AC Ace, Alfa Romeo Sprint Zagato, Jaguar XK150S, Mercedes-Benz
300SL, MGA and MGB, Morgan Plus 4 and Porsche 356."
Simon will be participating in his 1960 TVR Grantura MkIIa. The car is
chassis no 7/F/162, powered by a 1588cc B-series lump, as fitted to the MGA at
the time. The car has the rare combination of lightweight body / standard
chassis, intended for club competition, and/or possibly autograss events which
were popular in the early 60s. The chassis no. would indicate that it was
intended to have a Ford motor, but all history indicates that it has had MGA-power,
as per the homologated specification.
Simon can normally be seen in the HSCC Classic Sports Car Championship as
well as Julius Thurgood's Cloth Cap series.
