Lotus 3-Eleven
is patently a very fast car. Even despite the slightly dubious
'ring lap
, the combination of 456hp, a sub-900kg weight and Lotus's famed dynamics will make for a rapid vehicle around a circuit.
Quick car, quick driver, quick lap!
Today the Lotus case is even stronger with a Hockenheim Short Circuit lap record of 1:06.2 seconds. Furthermore the lap time was set by sport auto and its very handy test driver Christian Gebhardt (he did that
Cayman GT4 lap
), so there are no issues with putting together sectors or data recording.
For reference that lap time is a tenth faster than a Porsche 918 Spyder, a second better than a Gumpert Apollo and more than two seconds ahead of a Ferrari 488 GTB, which recorded 1:08.3 in sport auto's hands. There's a video too, to further reinforce the point. See it here, and prepare to be amazed.
Gebhardt said the 3-Eleven "is an amazingly fast and track focused car in which to have a lot of fun at the limit", not really divulging as much detail as we would like. Probably off to set another lap time... The time was recorded on the optional Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres, with the temperature at just eight degrees. CEO Jean Marc Gales added that the 3-Eleven is "the ultimate embodiment of the Lotus design philosophy... this car is the ultimate giant killer".
Quite a coup for Lotus then. Could it take a few UK road car records as well? Snetterton is their local circuit, and there are plenty of other tight and twisty circuits here that would surely suit it. Sounds like 3-Eleven customers are in for an absolute riot.
