New Club Racer will debut at Frankfurt
Lotus will launch a special edition 'Club Racer' version of the Elise at the Frankfurt show in a couple of weeks, and these are the pictures to prove it.
In spite of the name, the official press release suggests Club Racer is more of a cosmetic make-over than a more track-focused machine. That said, it does look the part with body colour interior trim panels, special lightweight seats with exposed shell elements and a choice of four colours used by Lotus in the 1960s.
Elite Yellow, Carbon Grey, Sky Blue and Old English White are the hues on offer, and according to Lotus the exterior body colour theme is 'carried over to the transmission tunnel and combined with silver and black paint highlights, bisecting the cockpit and tying together the whole sporty theme unique to the Club Racer'.
The seats are only partially upholstered with lightweight microfibre pads, giving maximum support with minimal weight.
The Club Racer also gets an anthracite anodised gear knob and handbrake sleeve, embroidered 'CR' logos on the headrests, and anodized aluminium flooring.
The six spoke alloy wheels come with Yokohoma AD07 LTS tyres and are also anthracite anodised, but otherwise the Club Racer is the same as the 134bhp Elise S.
The price of £25,712 is a bit more than the standard £23,950 Elise S, but the Club Racer version does look pretty!
