Huracan Performante
has been lavished with praise since its launch, there's no doubt that the arrival of the
Ferrari 488 Pista
has rattled Lambo a little. Nothing like having your mid-engined track special fire stolen from you, is there?
As a reminder that the Performante is still pretty special, Lambo has today announced that the Huracan now holds eight lap records across the globe. These have been achieved during various road tests with the world's motoring media, including our colleagues at Autocar. Lamborghini has issued the times as "proof of its exceptional performance features".
The full list of times are as follows: 1:09.43 at Variano, 2:38.07 at Balocco, 1:29.6 at the Contidrom, 1:05.03 at Mira (with Autocar), 1:16.8 at The Grand Tours track in Wroughton, 42.3 at Boxberg, 1:42.49 at Le Mans Bugatti and 57.5 at Anneau du Rhin. Those last two laps were done by sport auto; a video of the final one can be seen below and, yes, it does look jolly fast.
How long these lap records remain after the Pista's arrival is what we're all waiting on with baited breath come the spring, although it should be noted that the Performante has claimed some notable scalps so far. So nothing is confirmed just yet. As for the car itself, Lamborghini is promising "a new dimension" will be added to the Performante at Geneva, so we'll leave that guesswork to you. Ferrari isn't going to have things all its own way!
