Last week, while it was in the process of launching the 765LT at Silverstone, McLaren publicly confirmed some additional performance stats. 0-124mph might not seem like the most consequential figure in the world if you spend all your time desperately trying not to exceed 70mph at an inopportune moment, but a seriously quick 0-200km/h time is handy comparative gauge of very senior speed.
McLaren duly reported that the new model had broken the tape at 7 seconds dead - or 0.2 seconds ahead of target, as the target obsessed manufacturer put it. That makes it only 0.2 seconds slower than the more powerful McLaren Senna. And 0.3 seconds quicker than the original Bugatti Veyron. The 720S doesn't get there till 7.8 seconds. A McLaren F1 (according to Autocar's road test from back in the day) took roughly 9.4 seconds to lumber past the same mark. Over the quarter mile, the 765LT is said to have stopped the clock at 9.9 seconds - 0.1 second ahead of the Senna; 0.2 seconds behind a 1,200hp Veyron Super Sport.
