While the BMW E46 M3 is well known and loved on PistonHeads, there's less reverence for its distant Compact cousin - the 325ti. However, contemporary road tests were very positive, and let's not forget either that an awkward looking, straight-six BMW hatch made a remarkable return with the M135i/M140i. Really the ti is the precursor to those very popular BMWs.
Like us, PHer 'amc_adam' is also a fan of the E46 Compact; having covered nearly 100,000 miles in his Estoril Blue 325ti over nine years, he decided it was time for "a bit of TLC and a bit more power". Enter the E46 M3...
Sourced from eBay for a bargain sum, Adam used the M3 as a daily driver for a few months to ensure all was tickety boo for the conversion. Fortunately it was, and earlier in 2018 the transplant began in earnest.
Fair warning: there are a lot of pics. However, it's hard to draw yourself away from the skill and attention to detail on display here, this PHer clearly very thorough in his work. So bravo, 'amc_adam', for taking on a very cool project and executing it with such panache - we're loving your work! Good luck for the rest of the build.
