If you're after a thread with some legs to it, this might be the one. That's because PHer Wursle has been building his Z4 3.0si Coupe for three and a half years now. In a chunky first post about buying, modifying, a 'ring trip and more modifying, he's covered... nine months of it. So there's plenty more to come!
But it makes for great reading. Picked up on a whim at auction - "me and my dad used to go up to BCA just to see what was about" - the Z4 has enjoyed a fair few adventures over the years. A very rare Deep Green 3.0si, the Zed was actually in fair shape from the auction, but it certainly wasn't to stay that way...
In his own words, Wursle reported: "My initial plan for the car was to make it capable on track days but also be commutable in. The car later developed into basically a road legal race car but hey we'll get there." The first job was to service it, fit an LSD and remedy the brake lines; with a wheel change, tyre upgrade and some E46 M3 bits, the Z4 was already set for trip to the Nordschleife. Start as you mean to go on!
Trip completed, the Z4 was then treated to a lighter flywheel, BC coilovers and more new wheels, which is where the first instalment ends. Even with those modifications, the Z4 looks a lot more purposeful and ready for additional track work. And, by the sounds of it, there's plenty more to follow - we look forward to seeing it!
