DTM 2013 review: Time For Tea?

Plenty of pomp alongside some great racing footage in these DTM highlights

Touring cars, particularly the DTM, often make for exciting viewing. But this highlights vid from the 2013 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters promises more than just excitement; the entire season was 'In a Sensual Frenzy'. Indeed.

Anyway, bizarre German translations aside, it's a nice little vid of an excellent touring car series, albeit with some slightly overwrought elements. In fact, the entire first minute and a half, following the drivers (and, bizarrely, the grid girls) preparing for race is a bit naff. So much is in slow motion that it's a wonder it only uses 90 seconds.

But stick with it and the video reveals just what we love about the DTM; large grids of V8 touring cars racing hard and close on some great circuits. With crashes. And slow-mo used quite sparingly. As has been said before, it all serves to make the BTCC look a little tame.

To a particularly OTT soundtrack, the video ends with a few post-race victory clips and the spotlight on overall champ Mike Rockenfeller. Plus more slow-mo. Bring on 2014!
