Expect around 520bhp from GT2

Here’s Porsche’s next 911 variant undergoing final testing in America.

This 997 GT2 mule was snapped undisguised ahead of a projected debut at this September’s Frankfurt motor show. It looks as you might expect, although that’s not to say it doesn’t look very useful indeed.

As before, the GT2 combines elements of the hardcore GT3 with a Turbo motor.

This time the 997’s mighty twin turbo flat six has been boosted to a rumoured 520bhp. Seeing as the GT2 will once again be rear wheel drive only – and hence around 100kg lighter than the four wheel drive and luxuriously equipped regular 997 Turbo – the new GT2 should be somewhat brisk.
