It's clear a car is pretty remarkable when even Manthey Racing admit to struggling somewhat to improve it. The latest Porsche 911 GT3, don't forget, was 17 seconds faster around the Nordschleife - the track MR uses for all its development - than its predecessor. With identical power. So they had their work cut out. But you don't win as many Nurburgring races with 911s - or set production car lap records - as Manthey without some nous. So, after a "a lot of work for us with the new model" - that's according to Stefan Mages, head of Manthey's development - here is the 911 GT3 Performance Kit.
Looks good, doesn't it? Manthey says this latest upgrade followed a similar process to that used for the 991 RS models, which is most evident in the new rear wheel aerodiscs. Only available for fitment for buyers that also go for the Manthey OM-1 lightweight wheels seen here, the discs are part of an aero package that also includes the angrier front splitter (with some flics), a new rear diffuser and a carbon rear wing. No claims have yet been made on exact downforce improvements.
Additional bits include a brake package, comprised of braided lines and racier pads, plus a Manthey 4-way adjustable - compression and rebound for high and low speed - suspension kit. As you might expect, it sounds like a raft of modifications for GT3 drivers serious about track driving. And despite the inevitable bad press about posturing and resale, those buyers are certainly still out there.
"The first performance kit for a new model series is always something special and I am very proud that we're now able to present the initial results... I can't wait to see how fast the car will be with the Manthey performance kit," added Manthey Racing's MD Nicolas Raeder. Given the GT3 has already stunned with a 6:59 lap from just 510hp, whatever the MR car does will be borderline unbelievable. Manthey says the new kits ought to be available in Q2 2022, and don't affect the Porsche warranty one jot - that majority shareholding for Stuttgart really has come good. Interested buyers over here can speak to RPM Technik or JZM. And expect that lap time just as soon as the weather permits...
