It
was announced today that Jonathan Rowland and Ashley Ward will not be driving
the second TVR Cerbera Speed 12 for the rest of the 2001 season.
This is a mutual decision and according to TVR it's one that "both
the drivers and TVR are entirely happy about."
Ashley Ward commented this morning: "It is a shame but we were just
not enjoying ourselves. The GT class in the Privilege series is in
essence a three car championship and we were never going to be anything other
than fourth. Jonathan and I intend to stay together as a team and will make an
announcement about our plans for the rest of the season imminently."
TVR's Ben Samuelson added "It has to be said that is has been a real
pleasure having Jonathan and Ashley driving for us. However, what we are now
able to do is to put drivers in the car who will take the fight to the Lister
and the Viper, and keep Michael and Bobby honest at the same time!"
It's the second swap for the number 12 car which was originally to be run by
Countdown Developments but was then taken back in house by TVR before the first
race.
