Scheduled to arrive later this year is another contender for the road legal
track/race car, this time from Germany. Automotive Solutions have been working
on the project for a while now and are drawing on experiences in the motorsport
industry to design it. AS are working closely with Motorsport suppliers to
ensure the car is hardy enough for frequent track use.
Goodies include fully adjustable suspension and F1 style paddle shift. The
business end is a four cylinder 1400cc engine chucking out 235bhp. Target weight
is just 520kg. Built on a space frame chassis the AS One features a flat bottom
and aluminium/carbon flooring and paneling. The body will be GRP or carbon
composite.
Performance is likely to be very spritely with the 0-60mph dash estimated to
take 4 seconds and the AS reckon it should hit 150mph.
Very much in the mould of the XTR2 and Radical, the AS One will at least
introduce more choice to this specialist area of the market. The introduction of
German engineering skills may provide some fresh thinking and ideas too in this
emerging sector of car production.
UK price is expected to be around £29,000 and a UK representative has
already been appointed.
