Coram Automotive had their LMP on show in Birmingham. The
Scottish built, road legal, track day car is much in the same vein as the
Westfield XTR2. The car on show is the prototype which still has some work
required before it can hit the road, but nevertheless gives a very strong idea
of what the finished product will be like.
Weighing in at around 500kg, the LMP uses a Kawasaki ZX12 engine
(174bhp). Power is transmitted via a propshaft rather than a chain, opening up
the possibility of a range of other engine options down the line including a
Ford Duratec V6 or motorbike derived V8.
The
GRP body sits atop a tubular thin wall, TIG welded, spaceframe chassis. The LMP
has a specially designed, bespoke magnesium steering track with two turns lock
to lock, with quicker ratios a possibility.
Price for a factory built vehicle will be around £23,000 or a
kit will be available for £12,995 with expected build cost taking your outlay
to around £16,000.
Coram expect to have their prototype running at Rockingham next
month.
