After an enormously successful track day at Folembray last year we're
heading back for more in 2002. Organised by Mike Field at Latebrakers, the
P2002 track day is the chance for readers of PistonHeads to have a blast
on the wonderful Folembray track as well as down some beers with each
other.
This year we have slightly changed the format to increase your track
time, and also to offer a chance to visit the Reims GP circuit and visit a
Champagne house (might help if you need to persuade the other half!).
The format for this year will be.
- Depart Dover on Friday evening (5th April) to arrive in Arras in
time for dinner. Accomodation will be provided at the IBIS hotel in
the centre of Arras. Good underground car parking is available to keep
your loved one safe. The historic city streets provide countless bars
and café's where a good evening meal can be found. Breakfast on
Saturday morning is included.
- Saturday morning and it's time to hit the track. The Folembray
circuit has been recently resurfaced, and provides a number of
interesting challenges for drivers of all levels. The circuit will be
available exclusively to us on this day, so we can maximise your track
time. We have a policy of holding an open pit-lane after the first
hour, so you may come & go as you please. Helmets are mandatory,
and are provided for those who do not own one.
- A short drive away is the Mercure Chamouille hotel. This wonderful
lakeside hotel is a real jewel. Every room has a balcony overlooking
the lake, this has to be one of the best locations in the Champagne
region. Again this hotel has ample parking.
- Saturday night is party night, we provide dinner with wine included
in the price, and this is a great chance to discuss the days
activities. The bar closes when the last man, or lady falls, so Sunday
morning is not an early start.
- Sunday provides a few options, including visits to the Reims GP
circuit, which is now public roads, the pits and grandstands make a
good backdrop for a photo opportunity. Visiting a Champagne house
(with testing) will also be provided. After that it's time to hit the
Autoroute back to Calais to be home in time for tea and scones back in
blighty.
The pricing's been adjusted this year making it even better value for 2
people.
- £395 2 people sharing a car & hotel rooms. (£197.50 each)
- £245 1 single driver with own car.
- £99 Price for trailers (up to 6.5m long)
