...and then there's this for about 89,000 dollars..

Or this for 76,000 euros..

I appreciate neither are likely to be as reworked or resolved to drive but I can't help but think that a lower price point for a lower level of work suits such a thing and to my eyes at least look far more characterful, less contrived and all the cooler for it..
I like both, the blue one I've seen some time on mobile.de in sweden or so.https://journal.classiccars.com/2022/03/30/pick-of...

a while ago 2021 there was one on mobile for sale at 55k euro a very nice one and 204 hp from a 3.0 engine, I liked it, but was gone pretty fast, ah saved the pictures, it looked like fresh new, sadly sold fast.
Restomod companies looking to justify thousands of hours of work in the price tag are surely gonna come unstuck at some point. Look at MST Escorts. Looks a cracking product and is sub £100k. It's a lot for an Escort but a good boggo restored car is a lot so the difference seems absolutely justifiable in my mind for a new car...
However, charging hundreds of thousands more for a rehashed and polarising take on what was a generally unloved model seems like lunacy to me when a good upgraded resto ticks so many boxes..
The £330k redux M3 is another one that springs to mind.. A nice thing but how good could you make an E30 for £100k?
I have to remind myself that for a surprising number of people these prices are peanuts but I still struggle to believe that when the super wealthy go car shopping they are gonna be looking at really expensive versions of what are essentially affordable saloons or sports cars.
Singer appear to be on another level and I could understand a millionaire petrol head buying an Alfaholics GTA for a pure analogue driving hit or a Prodrive Subaru etc but I do wonder about some of the less resolved products that are our there.. Of course there are no rules as to what should or shouldn't be successful and sometimes the recipe looks right, ( see Analogue Elise ), but I think the end product has to be exquisite if you are going to ask three or four times the price of a well built "bitsa" that an enthusiast might be able to build at home..
I wish all such companies the best of luck as I love the variety that resto modding brings but it's clear there's plenty of people jumping on the band wagon and I hope they appreciate that if they are starting with humdrum base cars there may be a few red cards being held up by some quarters if they asking crazy money for them..
PS. As for the FifteenEleven. The Etype and Maser etc all look great but the Escort Speedster......Jesus H..Even if it was a commission car there's no excuse. Just say no..
Reviving the spirit of the fantastic Porsche 916 from 1972.
Sadly, the project was cancelled due to the cost - plus it was faster than the top model of the 911 range at the time!
The few pre-production cars built were sold to management and friends of the company. They are now highly sought after by collectors.
Shame about those awful front headlights on the new version.

Porsche originally made a flat six 914 - the 916. Or they only built a few, I understand maybe just eleven prototypes? Some are still around at mega prices.... One of the most collectable Porsches.
they made many sorts I believe, the normal narrow body 914/4 and 914/6 and the wide body 914/6 GT and indeed a few 916 (11 or so because to expensive?) and also built 2 or so 914/8 cars... now thats rare.Have to agree on the design - the wheelarches don't look as good as the 916GT ones that grace many modded 914s and that front end is worse than the original. Not sure I like the fenders being offset from the doors either....
Maybe I'm biased though, having designed the 981 exteriors whilst at Porsche...
