Why would Bilbo Baggins giving the doctor a 'taken as police evidence' form get her brother off the hook for the missing coke? I didn't get that bit, I wasn't really paying much attention, but my missus didn't understand either.
Surely whoever was invested in the drugs would still be looking for a payout, I doubt the "police seized it sorry la" excuse would hold much weight amongst criminal gangs?
Oh and how come the female police officer couldn't escape from a flimsy cupboard with a coat hanger as a lock?!
These drug dealers are obviously sticklers for paperwork. I really enjoyed this series and Freeman was superb but that slight plot hole also rankled me a bitSurely whoever was invested in the drugs would still be looking for a payout, I doubt the "police seized it sorry la" excuse would hold much weight amongst criminal gangs?

Started on series 2, and it's interesting and compelling. Martin Freeman is good value.
But like series 1, it feels like the scriptwriter - ex cop - has thrown everything he knows at it, including the kitchen sink. There's a lot of kitchen sink drama in fact. But the scale and juggling from home drama to various work plot lines makes it pretty hard to follow.
After 2 episodes of series 2, I am a tad frustrated.

I'm finding it almost has 'Boys from the Blackstuff' vibes, really dark humour occasionally illuminating a rather bleak and hopeless situation.
And coicidentally the recently deceased Bernard Hill of Yosser Hughes fame is in this too.Edited by cuprabob on Tuesday 7th May 16:30
Got to say I'm really enjoying the second series so far.
The episode with Kevin Eldon ("DS Neil" ) had a few sad and poignant moments that just swung straight into pure comedy (the conversation about being scared, followed by the shot of Neil's notebook).
Also the line "have you seen the sun?" "no I don't read that st mate" had me laughing.
I thought it was well written, looking forward to more.

Finally finished watching this last night.
Great acting with totally believable (bloody frustrating) characters.
Thoroughly depressing at times with as someone said the true underbelly of society, but some classic comedy if you spot it.
One thing though - I never want to go to Liverpool!
