Surely the incorrectly spaced plates must be on the lerner car just for the photos - to have them on while a pupil is taking a test risks the examiner just walking away before even getting into the car.
I know it's not the examiner's job to police these things but I have heard of them refusing to take tests out if the passenger air bag light is on despite the fact that it's a "fail safe" system and only means that the car effectively doesn't have a passenger airbag (like millions of cars).
