Well that was a strange day. The walls trust have heritage funding they seemed keen to spend on events, hence todays offering billed as for local residents with old buildings, that was a building inspector/conservation officer from the next county talking about Lime plaster, lime morter etc.
However I used it as a networking event and got to know several other owners, and learn a bit more history. We have a lime kiln not far from the bottom of our garden, plus spotted how a road level was raised significantly (turret tower arrow slit at road level) and the height of some of the original walls....
Also those square holes in the town walls weren't for wooden beams/structures long since gone, but for scaffolding as they built the walls.
Ended up walking through one owners garden as a short cut, then showing her our ground floor and garden.
So for house repair info, low, but for getting known and knowing people not a bad day
That sounds like a fascinating experience. I love listening to experts who don't have an an axe to grind. I found out for instance that the house of 404 was once a hospital for injured Naval officers and was a national scandal because men were seen being massaged on a Sunday. In my dining room. My appointment at the Dermatology Department at hospital has arrived.
9.20am on Wednesday 25th December.
They may be trying to discourage my attendance.
They are obviously trying to get you to recant your Christian beliefs and convert to Islam, Mr Curler. 9.20am on Wednesday 25th December.
They may be trying to discourage my attendance.
It is the future.

That really does sound like a tremendous day Byker!!!
Dicky, I'm sorry to say that appears to be the shape of the NHS currently.
It had every opportunity to be boring, but the nerd in me found it interesting and I was even asking questions about the properties of line mortar, pure and impure, nhl 2,3.5 and 5 sec and the weather dependenciesDicky, I'm sorry to say that appears to be the shape of the NHS currently.

Apparently they haven't found a doc saying that the town walls were built with any official funds. It looks like the rich were told they could build a house of they built their but of the town walls, so the maintenance of them still falls to the homeowner.
That's some serious commitment, considering some are in poor repair.
Whilst I dont own any of the town wall, pretty sure my wall between me and my neighbour is built from robbed rock fallen from broken down wall... I rebuilt a lot of it with normal mortar

History? It's a mystery.
I'm glad I earn a living doing sums and playing with electronics.
Boing!
...and what's Bomma bought?
A ten year old Jag was too old, so I'm going five year old Vanquish.I'm glad I earn a living doing sums and playing with electronics.

...and what's Bomma bought?
Or a Rochdale Olympic. He has that International Man of Mystery thing to maintain.

Or something equally discreet.
I saw just the job today, outside Tesco. An eighties Rolls looking very slightly dogeared being driven by a pretty girl in (I guess) her early thirties.
Certainly younger than the car.
It was navy blue though. Yuk. The Rolls I mean. Pearl grey for me please.
Intriguing though. I'll keep the old eyes peeled for further sightings. I could be tempted.

Good morrow fellow Trivialities everywhere
Sssshhhhhhh, say it quietly, two good nights sleep in a row!!
I know!!! I can barely believe it myself!!!
Come on Bomma you old goat, stop keeping us in suspenders, what have you bought?!?!?!?
I kind of already know what today has in store for me work wise, and I've already decided to mow the lawn and strim when I get home, other than that today is a complete mystery to me.

Today is a day of action before Mrs B gets back tonight and tells me I can't.
Already got my hair cut - it's 3 doors down.
Our flat roof over the kitchen was bodged by the previous owners with some car fibregrass repair stuff (p40, p38?) which has lifted. I'm going to trim it back then I've got some proper rubber sealant to fix it, before the rain comes back sometime.
Luckily I just walk out a bedroom window onto the roof, as we changed the window for one that opens in all sorts of ways, including fully open to act as a fire escape, so no effort there.
Then I may see what i can further do with the bind weed in the pond.
Then hopefully the sun will have reached the garden and I can sit back and read this afternoon, or perhaps compose a letter to my MP, Senedd representative, local councillors.
It started very, very misty this morning but it's burnt off already so looks like it will be a great day

Tiled floor washed and I've got sealent polish down but probably ruined Mrs B's floor mop doing it so sitting with a coffee in the garden ordering a new mop end for it. Painted myself out into the garden but took laptop and a coffee there first.
I have to do bits, just yto keep my sanity
Still, suns getting there
