Why do you think that providing an insurance certificate for a different car proves that the car you are driving is insured?

If you're concerned about not being insured, yet you have spoken to the insurance company, arranged cover and paid a premium, then received documents via email or a portal into which you can log in to with a 4 digit PIN number, then asking MID won't do much to allay your fears.
I have been stopped in my classic by the Police as I pinged the ANPR. I was asked a few questions, then asked whom my Insurer was (Markerstudy via A Plan Chelmsford) The Policeman made a call, confirmed the car was covered and let me on my way after a chat about the car. This was on a Sunday morning heading to a Car meet.
Basically I'd insured it on the Friday and the database hadn't updated. Remember all the calls are recorded for a reason and it can work both ways, which is why I always ask "So there's no break in cover?" once it's all done and dusted.

About 96% of the data uploaded to the MIB during the outage has been uploaded and they expect this to rise to 99% tomorrow. However, third party submission handlers have effectively had to hold on to millions of records and are only now beginning to tackle the backlog. Even then, the user interface provided by MIB is not working fully so they are struggling to monitor what is being uploaded.

Yes, good point and I should have added that. I also binned markerstudy once the policy ended and went with Footman James, that was on the strength of a topic posted on the forum in the classic section iirc. The good news is the police will be well aware of what's going, it is affecting millions of policies. As a trader, I can not see my covered vehicles, and cannot add/remove them. Bit of a nightmare.

Seems to be back now but only half working. One of my vehicles shows up ok but the other shows "Invalid vehicle registration number. Please check and try again. Please note: This service doesn't work for foreign vehicle registration numbers." despite being insured and appearing ok on the DVLA check service.
