How is a new border force going to stop the boats?
Are they going to sinkk them?

Without the cooperation of the eu, a new border force will do nothing.

Empty words, just trying to rubbish the rwanda deal.

Is it? have the boats stopped then or been reduced since it was announced?
The Irish think it is.

Why not give it 5 minutes before writing it off.
Obviously it will take time for the news re rwanda to get out.
The smugglers wont be mentioning it after all.

There will also be those that have started travelling before it was passed.

We do want it to work don't we?
Seems to be an awful lot of people in this country that dont.

It more than likely won’t even happen never mind work.

How much has been spent on it so far?

Eh?

Talked big, but nothing he was proposing was likely to reduce the channel crossings.

Same as the supposedly hard right Conservatives then.

The whole redcue the boat crossing is just headline's. It's impossible as the boats leave a foreign country (thus we have no power to stop) and unless we sink them they will end up in the UK.

A more accurate description is what will we do with them when they get here.

Would that be the government's fault or the fault of all those trying to stop it happening?

Definitely seen a more confident, pragmatic side to him. Good stuff.

The Governments fault for trying to implement it - if they are having to change the law so it circumvents the highest court in the UK then that tells you something about how much of a good idea it is.

How do you think your beloved leader is going to deal with it then, because as usual, it appears to words bouncing around an empty vessel.

Maybe he is playing his cards close to his chest, just in case the tories steal his ideas.

My beloved Leader? I'm not a Labour supporter and probably won't vote for them. HTH

It wouldn't be the first time they've nicked an idea either would it.

SKS sounds like an absolute idiot. He has no plan to stop the crossings - apparently he will “close their bank accounts” err yeah that cash paid to an unknown 3rd party outside the uk? Chump

From conversations with people (interested sorts, admittedly, of centre left or centre right leaning) about this, most seem to think that Labour should have politely turned her down, rather than appearing to abandon their principles.

I'm not sure how it will play with Joe Average or the few remaining Tory supporters (if they are still Tory supporting at this point, there is unlikely to be much that could persuade them otherwise)

Whether or not it will provide a net positive impact to Labour's support at the GE, who knows?

It is nothing more than complete and utter incompetence and stupidity. It appears that most people who take an interest in politics look at a fully fledged far right Conservative MP, who merely wants to kick Sunak where it hurts, crossing the floor into the welcoming open arms of Starmer and think WTF! There is no possible chance that Elphicke has had an epiphany and, overnight, gone from far right to even mildly centre left and it is patently obvious to anyone but the moron’s moron that’s this will cause more upset to the Labour Party than the Conservatives.

Why did Starmer do it? It can only be that he relished the immediate embarrassment it would cause the Conservatives without ever considering any down sides whatsoever. I cannot think of a more short sighted, inept decision of any party leader, ever. To be seduced by an exceptionally short term tactical advantage whilst paying no heed to the blindingly obvious problems it would cause is just stunning. And this tt thinks he is PM material . . . God help us all!

Yes, I'm sure he will be gutted to lose your vote.
