Old age? Rare for a government official there.

Just seen this on a WhatsApp group. Basically my age but with a somewhat more impressive CV.

Involved in so many of my favourite albums and always moving on and doing new stuff.

RIP Roger.

A movie great, and maybe single handedly popularised the works of
E.A. Poe.

And quite a few future stars made early appearances in his films.

Behind the camera too, just think how different cinematic history would be if he hadn't given a chance to Francis Ford Copella, Scorsese and James Cameron.

You are very unlikely to know her name, but I'll bet you know her face - and her scream...

Love Jaws, a genuine favourite. I can't believe it was only PG rated when it came out.

PG didn’t exist when it came out, it was the previous A rating but essentially the same thing. I must have been 8 when I was taken to see it with a mate & his Mum. The dive scene with the skull properly freaked us out yikes

Still gets me now and I've seen it so many times, I love the film but it made me afraid of the sea I'll be honest, it's all psychological, you yell barracuda, everybody says, "Huh? What?" You yell shark, we've got a panic on our hands on the 4th of July.

I didn't see Jaws until it was shown on TV. They used to edit the opening scene. It's properly brutal for a mid '70s summer block buster.

That head that just casually pops by the hole in the boat was a proper jump out my skin moment as a 10 yr old, they accentuated the scene with a loud high pitch sound, like an underwater scream. boxedin

I remember how almost everyone was smoking! the Odeon Wolverhampton 75, times have changed!

I was in hospital at the time it came on network TV, it was a sunday night I think and there was a lot of hype about it, the nurses gathered all the long term inmates and wheeled us all down to a room with a TV in it so we could all watch. I was 8 and some of the other inmates ranged from 7 to 12.

When the head in the boat scene came on as you can imagine there was pandemonium, kids screaming, kids running out of the room pulling drips out the works. Most of the kids spent all night crying and no one slept.

Happy days.

I think that bit made everyone jump, me included.
Also when the shark just appeared out of the water as food was being chucked in the water, another proper jump scare
