Some amazing pictures.
Way too much light pollution here to see anything unfortunately.

Took the dogs up for a walk hoping to catch the lights and wasn't too impressed, but suddenly they changed to a really vivid red. Amazing.

Spent nearly an hour gazing at them now I've a sore neck.

So, quick question. It didn’t look that impressive at all to my naked eye. But I am a bit colourblind. Whereas my phone camera without any special settings says it looked like this, is it my eyes?!

I’m also badly colour blind and my photos are far more vivid than what I saw by eye.

Your phone camera software is also compensating and editing the photos and colours plus with a night time setting the shutter is staying open for longer and letting more light in.

So, basically no one actually saw anything like these photos show?

No, a bit of a con but impressive if it really goes bonkers....think its the light spectrum that we can't pick up that even phones can

You could see grey streaks in the night sky in Edinburgh.
Looked a bit like dim search lights

Phone camera on night setting brought out the proper colours.

The lights i seen were certainly not as bright as my photos, however the change from the very very dull green to the vivid red/purple was unreal to watch.

I was pretty underwhelmed at the beginning to be honest.

edit to add im in N. Ireland.

I did see colours in the sky just not as bright as the pics.
