RE: BMW i8 | The Brave Pill

From a posing point of view I'd buy one of these tomorrow for sure. However for me the way that they are powered is about as exciting as opening your fridge or putting the microwave on though sadly.
Why does everything have to have a downside to it generally?
I'd personally absolutely love one of these with a decent engine in it big time for definite.

I just wish it had adjustable lumbar and I would buy one tomorrow.
Anyone taken the lumbar out using a trimmer?
I’m sure it’ll vary person to person, but are the seats really that bad? If so, how long before it becomes evident - would I know from a 10 minute test drive?Anyone taken the lumbar out using a trimmer?
I guess it’s personal. I find the seats really comfortable, in fact ideal what what is really a GT car rather than a sports car. But, I’m obvs biased, I paid full whack for mine seven years ago, my previous two cars were an Aston V8 Vantage and a C63 with the 6.2l motor, the little i8 is way more fleet of foot than both of those - by quite a margin.
I do NOT miss big engine fuel and servicing costs, as mine cost buttons to run, but I’m glad I at least had a last hurrah in silly, last-century, engines. If you like big capacity non-turbos then you’d better be quick. What’s the new C63 motor? A 4 cyl 20l turbo? And even that only has a life expectancy of seven years.

I recall the then owner of Leicester City bought an i8 for all the first team squad when they won the league in 2016.
I'm not sure they if they were unique in some way (maybe painted / wrapped in the Leicester City blue), but does anyone know what happened to the cars, or did they just trickle onto the market and are unidentifiable as the City cars?
A few have been on the market. They were painted Protonic Blue. A few were wrapped subsequently to differentiate them at the Leicester City FC car park although most were changed to matte black so I’m not sure if that solved the problem. The registrations all started with FC16. My brother has one and the paperwork shows the Club as the first owner. Sold mine today back to the dealer I bought it from two years ago at pretty much the same money.
Great fun car to drive and cheap to own but wouldn't have one without a comprehensive warranty.
Lots available and mine is already back up on a main dealer website (10k miles from new).
Warranty is just over £1k a year though for proper BMW one.

There was a 2019 i8 in my mates garage getting worked on. I was getting the drains cleared on my F83 M4 at the time a few weeks back.
I asked him what was wrong. He said the electrics were an absolute mess due to water ingress. And the boot could not be accessed at all whatsoever.
Driver could not get into boot at all. Apparently there is no way to get into boot even from the remote fob. The only option was to smash the rear window. Replacement cost was £4k minimum.

The I8 finished last in warrantywise reliability index: https://youtu.be/lu4-tXJZxi0?si=yBWroOpg60m3QEcJ
Issues with the hybrid system (both ice and electrics). Although the average repair cost is fairly low (£2k), it happens a lots... (twice as much as in a Range Rover)...
