We were fortunate enough to attend the King’s garden party at Buckingham Palace today.

There were thousands of people there and many in uniform.

One man stood out wearing a uniform I didn’t recognise. Very dark green jacket, almost black, with red piping on the collar. Similar colour flat cap. Black trousers, gloves and shoes. A sort of black leather pouch over his shoulder and across the back. Lastly, he had a badge on his upper arm that looked like green and red battery bars.

Any ideas what uniform that was? At a wild guess, I’d say it was the parade uniform of a Grand Moff of the Empire.

A dark green jacket, hanging around royalty and confusing civilians.... that's soldiering.

Not quite right.......
they're Royal Green Jackets, see large badge on chest of officer.. a crowned maltese cross with wreath
now part of the Rifles, but different cap badge as they are keeping their identity!!

Wrong, they’re The Rifles. The RGJ merged in 2007 alongside the three differing Regts of Light Infantry to form them.

The new uniform, honours & traditions are an amalgam of all preceding Regts.

The image I showed earlier is 5 Rifles.
